First Aid
This course teaches the skills of first aid and accident prevention. Learn how to recognize and respond to injury or sudden illness, control bleeding, care for muscle, bone, and joint injuries as well as treatment for burns. There is no CPR Training in this course.
First Aid with Adult CPR/AED
The purpose of this course is to give individuals the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies. Topics also include basic care for injuries and sudden illness for adults, and use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for victims of sudden cardiac arrest.
First Aid with Adult and Child CPR/AED plus Infant CPR
Our most comprehensive First Aid and CPR course for the general public. This course is designed to help individuals recognize and overcome the reluctance to act. Topics covered in this course include First Aid and CPR/AED for adults and children, plus CPR for infants. It also includes recognition of and care for life-threatening bleeding, sudden illness and injuries, breathing and cardiac emergencies; injury prevention; and heart disease prevention.
Responding to Emergencies - First Aid with CPR/AED Professional Rescuer
This First Aid instruction course is especially helpful for coaches/trainers and those who spend a lot of time outdoors. Participants are taught an action plan that applies to any emergency. Course fulfills New York State Department of Education requirements for coaching and the New York State Department of Health requirements for Camp Health Officers. The course includes CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification. A resuscitation (pocket) mask is required and can be purchased at the time of the class for $12.
Blended Learning: Standard First Aid with Adult CPR/AED or with CPR for Child and Infant
This course is a combination of web-based learning and an instructor-led skills session. It is designed to be flexible and self-paced. The first portion is completed online. The second portion is the instructor-led skills session done in a classroom. Individual components (example: first aid only) are also available upon request.
Sport Injury Prevention and First Aid with Adult & Child CPR/AED
A course developed in partnership with the U.S. Olympic Committee, designed to help coaches prevent and prepare for sports-related injuries. This course includes Adult and Child CPR and First Aid Care. This course is geared to age-group coaches, and does NOT fulfill NYS Dept. of Ed. requiremnts for coaching.
First Aid for Coaches
This course addresses all the basics of first aid, with emphasis on injuries and illnesses specific to athletics. The course also includes injury prevention and emergency action planning. Pet First Aid
This course is designed to train dog and cat owners how to respond to life-threatening emergencies such as choking, poisoning, and exposure to extreme weather conditions. Use life-like dog and cat manikins to learn how to perform pet CPR and First Aid, recognize symptoms, and provide care for common pet emergencies such as allergic reactions and car accidents. Includes one book per family: your choice of a Dog or Cat First Aid book. Additional books available for $16.95 each.
Wilderness First Aid
This is a course in backcountry emergency response with emphasis on assessment and urgent first aid techniques, but no in-depth CPR. The course is for those who work, live or recreate in areas away from the usual EMS service. A minimum age of 15 is recommended for participants due to the serious nature of the course and scenarios.
When Help is Delayed
A “delayed help” situation is one in which medical care is delayed for 30 minutes or more. Participants will learn whether to transport or leave an injured person, as well as ways to improvise or modify care depending on the environment and other circumstances. This presentation is also included in the Wilderness First Aid course.
