VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

If you’d like to volunteer at our West Ontario Office, call (585) 394-2260.

Blood Drive Volunteers
Blood Drive Volunteers ensure that every valuable pint gets to those whose lives depend on it. Volunteers coordinate the registration of donors, serve refreshments and observe people for signs of reaction after their donation. They also coordinate volunteer activities and assist in labeling and inspecting blood collection containers.

Canandaigua VA Medical Center Social Therapy
Twice each week, volunteers go to the Canandaigua VA Medical Facility to bring sunshine into the lives of the vets. They host parties, play cards, and take the vets on social outings. They support the veterans who now need our help.

Warm Hands
Year round, volunteers knit and crochet warm items such as scarves, mittens, hats, and blankets for people in need. They are distributed to schools, nursing homes, hospitals, and community organizations. The flexibility of this opportunity attracts a broad spectrum of volunteers from the homebound to those who are able to incorporate knitting into their busy schedules.

I'M OK Program Volunteers
Residents at local senior housing complexes that participate in this Red Cross program can volunteer to provide a daily check on participating residents who put their I'M OK hanger on their door knob when they are up and about each morning. If the volunteer resident doesn't see an I'M OK hanger, help is summoned.

Disaster Action Team Member
Volunteers respond to local disasters such as house fires to help provide the essentials of living between the disaster and the next day—food, clothing, shelter (all free of charge). Volunteers may conduct damage assessments. Experienced volunteers may choose further training for national disaster relief efforts.
