Blood Drive Volunteer Program: Volunteers greet donors at blood drives, coordinate registration of donors, serve refreshments, observe donors’ well-being following donation.

Disaster Action Team Member: Volunteers respond to local disasters such as house fires to help provide the essentials of living between the disaster and the next day—food, clothing, shelter (all free of charge). Volunteers may conduct damage assessments. Experienced volunteers may choose further training for state and national disaster relief efforts.

Disaster Health Services: Provide First Aid, monitor ongoing medical conditions, assist in replacing lost medications and medical equipment. NY State Emergency Medical Technician, Cetified Nursing Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nrse, Nurse Practitioner, Physicians Assistant or Physician. Experienced volunteers may choose further training for state and national disaster relief efforts.

Disaster Mental Health Volunteers: Volunteers with New York State licensure provide mental health support to disaster victims and responders. Experienced volunteers may choose further training for state and national disaster relief efforts.

Food and Nutrition Services Kitchen Volunteer: Assist with preparing and packageing food to be delivered to homebound and elderly in Monroe County.

National Disaster Relief Work: Volunteers trained to respond to national disasters. Must have 3 week availabity, driver's license and able to lift 50 lbs. Capable of working under difficult conditions and under high levels of stress. You may have to endure cold or hot temperatures, share living quarters in a shelter, work as a part of a team, and be a good problem-solver. You must be ableto travel within 24 hours of being assigned. All candidates are required to complete the Red Cross online Introduction to Disaster course. Follow this link to access the online training. You will need to bring the completed course work with you once your Disaster assignment is confirmed through the Rochester Chapter.

Recruitment Volunteer: Assist Volunteer Development at recruitment fairs and other recruiting venues giving presentations and having one-on-one discussions with potential volunteers. Represent Red Cross at community fairs and school and cultural events. Training and materials provided.

Youth Leadership Development Program Facilitators and Mentors: College and adult volunteers are needed to work with the youth leadership program: pick-up students from area schools and deliver them to Red Cross for workshops using Red Cross vehicles; conduct workshops and structured mentoring sessions with rochester City high school students at the Red Cross on topics such as the importance of academic success, career exploration, college prospects and cultural appreciation.
