Blood Drive Volunteer Program: Volunteers greet donors at blood drives, coordinate registration of donors, serve refreshments, observe donors’ well-being following donation.
Community Outreach Program: Engages individuals, businesses, organizations and faith institutions in the Black, Hispanic/Latino, and other underrepresented communities, increasing their voice, perspective, and participation as volunteers in the American Red Cross.
Disaster Action Team Member: Volunteers respond to local disasters such as house fires to help provide the essentials of living between the disaster and the next day - food, clothing, shelter (all free of charge). Volunteers may conduct damage assessments. Experienced volunteers may choose further training for national disaster relief efforts.
Community Fair Volunteers: Volunteers represent Red Cross at community fairs and events at schools, cultural events and local stores during daytime weekdays and weekends to promote programs and services. Training and preparation for volunteers will be provided.
Kids Project: Volunteers perform educational puppet shows for third graders to promote the acceptance of children with disabilities. The Red Cross collaborates with the Finger Lakes Development Disabilities Office.
Youth Leadership Development Program Facilitators and Mentors: College and adult volunteers are needed to work with our youth leadership programs: pick-up students from area schools and deliver them to Red Cross for workshops using Red Cross vehicles; conduct workshops and structured mentoring sessions with Black and Hispanic middle and high school students at the Red Cross on topics such as the importance of academic success, career exploration, college prospects and cultural appreciation.
Community Preparedness Education Presenter:
Trained volunteers present workshops to community groups on health and safety topics and how to prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
Monroe Community Hospital Volunteers: Help long-term patients by offering them social recreation therapy.

Warm Hands: Year round, volunteers knit and crochet warm items such as scarves, mittens, hats, and blankets for people in need. They are distributed to schools, nursing homes, hospitals, and community organizations. The flexibility of this opportunity attracts a broad spectrum of volunteers from the homebound to those who are able to incorporate knitting into their busy schedules.
