Phones Will Be Staffed Again at 9 a.m. Tomorrow Morning
ROCHESTER, N.Y., Monday, January 18, 2010 – More than $350,000 has been raised from the Rochester community since the earthquake struck Haiti and the local Red Cross made an appeal for help. Greater Rochester Red Cross volunteers will reconvene taking calls at 9 a.m. tomorrow for donations to the American Red Cross International Response Fund.
“On a per capita basis Rochester is a leading community in charitable giving across the country,” said John Buttrill, CEO of the Greater Rochester Red Cross. “During an international disaster response the only way to help through the American Red Cross is by making a financial donation. We are grateful for the support everyone has given.”
The phone banks will be open from 9 am to 7 pm though this Wednesday for people to call in and make financial donations, which will go to help survivors of the earthquake in Haiti. After 7 p.m. donations can be accepted by calling 1-800-REDCROSS or by going to www.RochesterRedCross.org.
Donations to support the Haitian relief efforts will be directed specifically to medicine, water, mosquito nets, hygiene kits, hospital services, food, clothing and shelter.
