ROCHESTER, N.Y., Thursday, August 13, 2009 — The Greater Rochester Red Cross is deploying two volunteers to Gowanda to help with disaster relief efforts caused by the flooding. Marty and Alan Durbin, residents of Webster, will leave from the Greater Rochester Chapter, 50 Prince Street at 10 a.m. to help with casework, which is the process to provide assistance to residence who have been affected by the disaster and need immediate help with food, shelter, clothing and more.
“Marty and Alan Durbin will be working out of the Gowanda Elementary School, which has been set up as an American Red Cross Service Center,” said Richard King, Lead Disaster & Emergency Services Volunteer at the Greater Rochester Red Cross. “The Durbins will work alongside fellow Red Cross volunteers in the Buffalo region to help the many people that have been displaced by the flooding and help restore normalcy to their lives.”
