Red Cross deploys five more volunteers
ROCHESTER, N.Y., August 26, 2011—The Finger Lakes NY Region of the Red Cross is deploying five (5) more volunteers to assist in preparation for Hurricane Irene’s landfall. The following are being deployed to New York City:
George Glaess, of Fairport, and Martha Laros, of Pittsford will be assisting in sheltering and David Warren, of Irondequoit, will be assisting in the delivery of food. All are departing today - Delta Airlines at 2:45pm, from Greater Rochester International Airport. They will be available at 1:30pm prior to departure.
Greg Thomas, of Brighton, and Bernadette Bowie, of Henrietta, will be assisting in disaster assessment and sheltering. They are departing today – US Air at 7:34pm, from Greater Rochester International Airport. They will be available at 6:00pm prior to departure.
Hurricane Irene is headed toward the East Coast and the American Red Cross is mobilizing disaster workers and equipment along much of the eastern seaboard to help those in the path of this powerful storm.
