Wine, barbeque, and bluegrass for a good cause this Friday

GENESEO, N.Y., Thursday, August 11, 2011—The American Red Cross is teaming up with Deer Run Winery of Geneseo to provide an evening of wine, bluegrass music, and barbeque to benefit disaster relief. On Friday, August 12 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., folks are invited to come to the winery for wine tastings and live music provided by Rochester-based bluegrass band String Theory. Tickets are $10 per person and half of the proceeds benefit the American Red Cross.

“This is a really unique way to raise money for disaster relief,” said Leighton Jones, Director of Disaster and Emergency Services with the Finger Lakes NY Region of the American Red Cross, which is based in Rochester NY. “This event gives people a chance to kick back and enjoy quality drinks and entertainment for a good cause.”

Food vendors for the evening will include3 Legged Pig BBQ in Lakeville NY and Twisters Ice Cream Shop in Livonia NY. Patrons are invited to bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the views of Conesus Lake while sipping wine and listening to the beautiful sounds of bluegrass.

For tickets, please contact the winery at 585-346-0850 or the Red Cross at 585-241-4421. Tickets are also available at the door. Media are invited to attend this event; to coordinate, please contact Erin D. Caldwell at 585-370-1834.
