Red Cross continues to lead water safety training efforts with jointly hosted Aquatics Camp at Hobart and William Smith Colleges

 

GENEVA, N.Y., Wednesday, May 11, 2011—Hobart and William Smith Colleges are partnering with the American Red Cross to conduct an aquatics camp for teaching lifesaving water safety skills. This program is perfect for individuals who plan to work at area swimming pools, town recreation programs, or summer camps. The camp will be held on the Hobart and William Smith campus, located on the shore of Seneca Lake.

 

For individuals looking for a great summer job or challenging career as a safety team professional, the best place to start is with comprehensive training from the American Red Cross. The camp offers a range of programs to teach the skills and knowledge participants need to join or lead a lifeguard team. In addition, Red Cross instructor training programs are unparalleled in the industry, providing an additional level of service to members of the lifeguard community.

 

Classes include:

  • Lifeguarding
  • Water safety instructor
  • Lifeguard instructor
  • Swim training for life
  • Responding to emergencies first aid
  • CPR/AED for the professional rescuer
  • CPR/FPR for the professional rescuer recertification
  • Lifeguard/waterfront recertification

“We live in an area where water is one of our greatest assets, but it can also be very dangerous,” said Carol Oswald, Executive Director of the Yates County Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Aquatics Camp Director. “The Red Cross has been a leader in water safety training programs for over 90 years, and we remain committed to that objective. Our Aquatics Camp is an easy way for participants to get certified.”
