American Red Cross Now Offers 2-Year Certifications in

CPR, AED, and First Aid

ROCHESTER NY, TUESDAY, JANUARY 25, 2011The American Red Cross has recently revised its CPR, AED, and first aid training courses to be two-year certifications. Through this initiative, the Red Cross hopes to extend vital, life-saving safety training courses to a larger segment of the population. “The two-year certification makes safety training more cost-effective for both individuals and companies,” said Janet Brower, Director of Health & Safety at the Red Cross.

Although the time between formal training has been lengthened, the Red Cross has developed an interim refresher training course to keep people’s skills sharp after the one year period has passed. The interim training course is offered online and is included in the initial training course fees. Also included in the course fees are downloadable, printed training materials.

“CPR, AED, and first aid training saves lives,” said Brower, who has heard many stories of Red Cross trainees assisting others during her tenure.

The Red Cross is happy to offer a more affordable certification without compromising the level of training provided. To find a Red Cross training class near you, visit rochesterredcross.org.
