DISASTER SERVICES

Responding to disaster.

American Red Cross disaster volunteers respond to emergencies 365 days a year—whenever and wherever they strike.

Caring relief, day and night
When a disaster strikes, our volunteers are on the scene providing emergency shelter, food, clothing, and counseling. If needed, they set up disaster shelters, conduct damage assessments, and meet the immediate needs of disaster victims—services which are provided on a person to person basis. They also provide food and hot and cold drinks for the emergency personnel who are at the scene and provide respite for them as needed. Our volunteers also can support the efforts of the Red Cross in disaster-affected areas nationwide by assisting those affected across the country.
